BLURB:

A Men of Gilead Novel
Forrester Giordano comes from a huge, nosy Italian family, and with their homophobic jokes and slurs, he’s decided to stay in the closet. He finds respite in his bookstore in the quaint village of Gilead—where he has a huge crush on one of his customers, Kyle Benson.
Kyle is determined to live his dreams, and though life isn’t easy being deaf, one by one he’s making them come true. He’s scored a great job practicing law, bought a cute bungalow where he can finally have a big flower garden, and he has a dog he loves, Jasper. Now he just needs one thing to complete his happiness: a family of his own to make up for the one he never had.
Forrester and Kyle’s relationship starts off hot and heavy, and neither man can deny the depth of their connection. When Forrester’s little brother gets mixed up with their heroin-dealing cousin and his mother falls ill, Forrester has a decision to make—maybe the hardest of his life. For the first time, he’s found a man worth coming out for.
Unfortunately nothing ever goes according to plan with la famiglia.

Forrester Giordano comes from a big Italian family. He’s gay and in the closet. He grew up with his dad and brothers’ homophobic jokes. He’s scared to come out in front of his family and finds shelter in the quaint village of Gilead where he’s the proud owner of a bookstore.

Kyle Benson is a lawyer at the prosecutor’s office, he owns a bungalow in Gilead and lives with his dog Jasper. Life wasn’t easy for Kyle. He was born deaf, and lost both his parents. He has no family except his dog.

When Kyle and Forrester meet it’s like, all their lives, they’ve known each other. But between Kyle’s traumatic past and Forrester not being out, they will have to have faith, trust and love for each other if they want to conquer every obstacle that they’ll meet if they want to have their happy ending for good.

I really liked this book.
Forrester is funny, sweet, smart and sensitive. He’s terrified to come out. All his life, he heard his father making homophobic jokes, even after his death, his brothers kept up with the homophobic jokes. Forrester is scared to lose his family if they find out, so he divides his life. With his family, he’s Frankie, the geek son, the bookworm. At Gilead, he’s Forrester, the gay owner of the bookstore and the boyfriend of Kyle. He’s madly in love with him and wants a real life with him. And it’s because of this incredible, passionate, powerful love that Forrester will be able to come out.

Kyle is deaf, and he’s been bullied at school for being, deaf, fat, and lonely. But Kyle is a warrior, he fights for his dreams, and when he loses his mother, Kyle was so hurt that he drowns his grief in meaningless sex. Kyle had an awful experience and changed completely. When he meets Forrester, his traumas came back to him, but when he confessed to Forrester, he found love, admiration and strength in the eyes of the love of his life.

Kyle is the strength that Forrester needs to come out and be honest with his family about his sexuality. Forrester is the balm for Kyle’s soul.

This book is about love, family, trust, and loyalty. This book is about two lost souls who become one.

The author wrote a beautiful story with 2 beautiful characters that well developed. They aren’t perfect, and that makes them so human.
The story and the plot are good, and as we follow Kyle and Forrester’s relationship, we have a slice of their life, how they became one. The Giordano Clan is present and they are all crazy, speaking out loud, with a huge temper…. Actually they remind me my family. They are loveable and they found a way to grow on me.
I have only one little thing to say it’s that sometimes it was a little bit too long or repetitive.
But all in all, the book worth it and I spent a great time with them.

4 optimuMMs because Olive Juice them so much

***The ARC was provided by Dreamspinner Press. My review is an honest opinion of the book ***
